How to Use TweetDeck

TweetDeck [1] is a great desktop app for Twitter [2] power-users. Using TweetDeck, you can effectively follow many more people and topics than you would be able to do using the Twitter web interface or any of the other desktop apps.
Steps
- Go to the TweetDeck website [1] and install TweetDeck following the instructions there.
- When you run the TweetDeck app the first time, give it your Twitter login and password.

- Look at the three default columns: All Friends, Replies and Direct Messages.
- All Friends: This is the normal tweet stream that you see on the Twitter.com site or using most Twitter apps. This stream includes all updates from everyone you're following.
- Replies: This is the stream of all tweets that include @YourNameHere where YourNameHere is your Twitter handle. This is the same as clicking on Replies on Twitter.com
- Direct Messages: This is the stream of private messages sent to you through Twitter. It also includes private messages you send to others while using TweetDeck.
- All Friends: This is the normal tweet stream that you see on the Twitter.com site or using most Twitter apps. This stream includes all updates from everyone you're following.
- Use the Search tool.
- Click the search icon:
- In the popup, put any customized search that you like, such as "wikiHow" or "AboutUs.org OR @AboutUs"
- Now you have a new column with the stream of global tweets that matches your search.
- You can add as many searches as you like.
- Click the search icon:
- Use the Group tool.
- Click the group icon:
- Type a name for your group. For example: "Work" if you plan to see just your work colleagues, or "Chicago" if you want to see just your friends from Chicago.
- You'll see a list of the people you're following. Click the checkbox next to each person that fits in this group for you.
- After you click "Save Group", you'll see a new column with the stream of tweets from people in that group.
- You can add as many groups as you like.
- Click the group icon:

Note: I only began using TweetDeck a couple of weeks ago, even though I downloaded it months ago. Once I had the time and began to use it, I really liked it. Like Twhirl it really facilitates tweeting and other Twitter functions/actions. I love Twitter and the wonderful apps/applications that have been created for it!
